Fedor Emelianenko Takes On Fabricio Werdum in a Joint Strikeforce/M1 Spectacular

Fedor Emelianenko- also known as "The Last Emperor"- holds a record of 31-1. His only recorded loss comes from the fact that his fight with Tsuyoshi Kohsaka was stopped when Emelianenko suffered a gash in the opening seconds of the fight. Even though he has a loss to tarnish his undefeated streak, "The Last Emperor" understands that numbers don't mean anything when you're inside the cage.
Fedor has been at the top as the best heavyweight in the world for the better part of the last decade. He has taken down Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovi?, Mark Coleman, and Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira on his way there. On June 26th, he goes up against Fabricio Werdum (the number 9 heavyweight in the world) for a showdown that's bound to define the two fighters and the event.
Even though Emelianenko is among the top heavyweights in the world, he will have a lot on his hands going up against the jiu-jitsu technician, Fabricio Werdum. Werdum is known as "Vai Cavalo" or "Leading Horse" which speaks to his wild and free nature in the ring. It looks like Emelianenko will be tasked with taming Werdum if he wants that victory.
Despite this exciting main card, the June 26th Strikeforce will feature much more heated action. In fact, many more people are looking forward to the top woman in the world, Cris "Cyborg" Santos taking on Jan Finney. Most feel that Cyborg will take out Finney pretty easily and glide on to an effortless victory (even more so considering that Finney's nickname is "Cuddles"), but Finney has been known to be scrappy making the fight a good one to watch.

A lot of sports enthusiasts still have to discover the science of mma rankings or the existence of mixed martial arts as an exciting sport. These same people may name boxers and their ranks, their best fights but they still have to hear about mixed martial arts. They still have to discover these great fighters, mixed martial arts rankings, and the excitement one gets from watching the game.
Except for the few who are hooked to this sport, the fighters still have to make it to become household names.
The number of fights or tournaments are still at a minimum and a lot of people still have to figure out mixed martial arts rankings. Internet blogs reveal an exciting world as fans also fight for the fighters or fighting styles. Blogs about mixed martial arts could be as exciting and as combative as the sport itself.
While boxing, because of its popularity and it's constant exposure to worldwide TV coverage, can easily be followed in terms of rank and which fighters can be pitted against each other, mixed martial arts rankings remain to be understood by most. New followers of the sport also have to understand the money at stake, while boxing already is known to gross millions of dollars to fighters regardless of whether they win or lose.
Exciting (and sometimes bloody) nights among fighters matched against each other through their mixed martial arts rankings will eventually become as popular as boxing ,one of these days. Just like the very popular sport of boxing, mixed martial arts fighters and their ranks will eventually become as common and as popular as that of the boxers.
Expect the people to warm up to this kind of sport soon. People around the world, as made possible by television network giants, will begin to catch the mixed martial arts rankings tournaments. Nothing could be as exciting as watching these fighters slug it out in the ring like the old gladiators of the olden times. With their rankings, and popularity dangled as prizes, they would surely give each fight their best.
It was only in 1993 that mixed martial arts rankings tournament became more popular with the help of television coverage and other media. Wikipedia says this kind of sport could be traced back in England in the early nineteenth century. According to the Wikipedia post, mixed martial arts could be the modern version of Bartitsu where gladiators coming from different fighting styles and disciplines mix it up against other fighters.
In the 70's, Bruce Lee and his particular style of martial arts dominated the scene. Unfortunately, there were no other personalities who can be associated with mixed martial arts rankings so it did not spin off even as a marginal kind of sport.
We could not remember any mma rankings tournaments in the 70's, at least not the popular ones. The closest we have of how mixed martial arts could be was when Bruce Lee was fighting against Kareem Abdul Jabar, or against a swordsman, a Judo master, or a karate fighter. Furthermore, these were all make believe in the movie screen–not mixed martial arts rankings grudges.
